COLLABORATIVE DELIVERABLE FOR CO-FOUNDED STARTUP

In my time as CMO of FORTYTWO CO, an experimental design company I co-founded as a freshman with two Stanford CS majors, we generated over $488,000 in revenue ($166,000 pure profit). These numbers are a direct translation of my marketing strategy, execution, and management.

Role responsibilities: Screenwriting, talent management, set design, production.

We were approached by the Founder of BasicSpace to co-create a limited edition of our product to be sold exclusively on their platform. This was an exciting opportunity that demonstrated that we were gaining traction in the e-commerce space and fashion industry in general.

We commissioned the same director from our previous mini-series, who we had come to develop a great professional relationship with, and got straight to work. We booked a space in LA, sent out casting calls, wrote the script, and then it was go, go, go.

I flew down to LA with one of my co-founders for this shoot. I enjoyed the chance to work on my talent management skills, particularly with our leading lady, a kind (but nervous) elderly woman who required some encouragement on set. This was the moment that reinforced to me something I had suspected for a while: any good art - film, design, sculpture - is only good when the people behind it feel good. The job of a real artist is to care for their collaborators, pay mind to their needs, and be as relational as possible.
